Helsinki Living Lab

Helsinki Living Lab -project is coordinated by Art and Design City Helsinki and Forum Virium Helsinki. The objectives of this project are to develop and produce the Living Lab concept in Arabianranta-Kumpula region, to make it available for companies to utilise in their own product development both as service providers and utilisers, to promote the development of research methods for universities and to promote Arabianranta-Kumpula region as one of the key areas in both Helsinki Living Lab and European Network of Living Labs. Nearly 20 actors representing companies, research units, developers and consultants are involved in the project.

Role: researcher and designer

My work involves participating and supporting the Arki research team in the design and development of a "Collaborative Mapping of Everyday Practices" -exercise in Arabianranta region, the design and implementation of a supporting online tool for the exercise, planning and coordinating workshop with users, partners and other stake holders, and writing of the final report.

Working in the project during spring 2007.

Digital annotation tool

Online annotation tool for "Collaborative Mapping of Everyday
practices" -exercise

The aim of this online annotation tool is to inspire the participants of "Collaborative Mapping of Everyday Practices" -exercise to write and discuss about their digital everyday practices. The image on the left is designed as a background for the questions and comments. By clicking an area in the image users can comment a topic or add a new one. This tool is converted for it's purpose from an already existing geographical mapping tool.

Focus: Interaction design, UI design, graphic design,
writing research questions

I also did some xhtml+css coding for the tool.

The cards aim at functioning as a design aid for future development of various digital applications and products.
